Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 14, 2022 (SKNBS): The St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards
(SKNBS) recognised Island Purified Water for its continuous efforts in ensuring the health and
safety of its consumers in a brief but significant ceremony on October 14, 2022, at the bureau’s
office at La Guerite.
The presentation falls in line with World Standards Day (WSD), which offers an opportunity to
raise awareness and increase understanding of the importance of standardization. It is a
collaborative initiative of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Island Purified Water was presented with a certificate of achievement for meeting the
requirements outlined in the National Standard for Packaged Water. The company purchased the
packaged water standard in 2020 and has since then followed the requirements, which includes
performing microbial and chemical testing on their products to ensure safety, conformity and
quality. Since purchasing the standard and following suggestions made by the bureau, their
product has improved significantly. The company’s labelling is also in line with the St. Kitts and
Nevis Labelling Standard.
To qualify for such a certificate, businesses must purchase and follow the requirements of the
standard.
Companies wishing to purchase these or any other standards, which have been adopted by St.
Kitts and Nevis, can visit the bureau’s office at La Guerite, email sknbs@gov.kn or call 869 467
1498.
